Alex Fairhurst
Managing Director
MEng (Hons) CEng MIStructE
Alex is a Chartered Structural Engineer with wide-ranging design experience gained from large, international design consultancies prior to founding AJF. Alex manages the day-to-day running of the practice and works to continue developing new and existing client relationships.
Sulo Sitali
Associate Director
MEng (Hons) CEng MICE
Sulo is a Chartered Civil Engineer who joined AJF in 2021. He heads up the drainage / civils design department and continues to develop our portfolio within these sectors.
Prior to working with AJF, Sulo has extensive design experience gained from working at URS/AECOM, and also site experience at Manchester Airport whilst working for BCEGI.
James Drew
Associate (Structural)
BEng (Hons) CEng MIStructE
Graduating from the University of Southampton in 1997, James has over twenty years’ experience of structural building design.
James has led the structural design on a wide variety of projects in a number of sectors, including healthcare, education, residential, commercial, defence, industrial and astronomical, covering both new-build construction, the survey and refurbishment of existing structures, and client-side review roles.
Bazz Patel
Principal Civil Engineer
MEng (Hons)
Bazz is a Senior Civil Engineer who joined AJF in 2023, working within the drainage/civils design department.
Before working with AJF, Bazz gained extensive design experience from working at URS/AECOM, and Cundall. Here, he gained a wide range of experience in highways, flood risk, education, nuclear, healthcare, aviation, agriculture, public realm & master-planning sectors, all of which he approaches with a prioritising sustainability ethos.
Alistair Dodd
Senior Structural Engineer

Alistair joined AJF in 2019 and has been an integral part of the team since. Specialising in residential schemes, Alistair has delivered structural designs for a wide range of schemes including £multi-million developments.
Alistair is working towards Chartered status with the Institution of Structural Engineers.
Tom Dove
Senior Civil Engineer

Tom is an Incorporated Civil Engineer who joined AJF in 2025, working within the drainage / civils design department.
Tom has 15 years’ experience having previously worked within both the public and private sector gaining extensive experience of a wide range of highway and drainage designs.
Jack Hulme
Structural Engineer
MEng (Hons)
Since graduating from the University of Sheffield in 2021, Jack has gained experience across a wide range of projects, including commercial, industrial, healthcare, and residential schemes. He has worked with steel, concrete, timber, and modular construction, delivering efficient and buildable designs
Jack is currently working towards achieving Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with the Institution of Civil Engineers.
Ricky Sarohia
Senior Technician
Ricky joined AJF Engineering in 2025 as a Structural Revit Technician. Ricky has over 25 years of experience in the field, and his work has covered a wide range of projects, from domestic homes all the way up to large-scale major developments.
Laura Armand
Operations Manager
Having graduated from University of Leeds with an LLB Law degree, and worked for a further six years within the legal sector, Laura has acquired a valuable skillset that helps to ensure seamless operations within our office.
Responsible for coordinating the finances, HR and all other administrative tasks (not forgetting organising all social events!), Laura maintains a well-organised, efficient workplace and helps in supporting our positive work environment.
